Moshe Weinberg was born in 1939 in Israel and was raised by his grandmother. Moshe was an Israeli national wrestling youth champion. He was the coach of the Israeli International Wrestling Team and the coach of Hapoel Tel Aviv. Moshe was the Israeli Middleweight Wrestling Champion and the Adult Wrestling Champion for eight years. His career began at Hapoel Haifa, later becoming a Certified Coach at the Orde Wingate Institute's School of Coaches and also Manager of the Halls of Residence. Moshe lived with his wife on the Wingate campus in the staff housing quarter. At the time of the 1972 Olympic Games, Moshe and his third wife, Miriam had a one month old son, Guri.
